UPON MEETING NEW PEOPLE

Updated: Sep 27, 2023

This last weekend, I’ve been incredibly privileged to meet a bunch of people: All of them with one purpose in mind – to tell their story.

Colleen my editor, and I drove 1100 km round trip to meet this special group. And every kilometer was WORTH IT, even though my poor car had to have an emergency wheel alignment this morning because of the pot-holed road going through Eskdale.

Eskdale was the hardest hit area in the February 2023 cyclone. Colleen and I just drove through the area in utter silence.

The devastation….

All the long hours of driving, playing dodgems on the road to avoid destroying the car, the many hours of preparation – It was all worth it.

And why?

Because this group of people have something the world needs to hear. It is my honour to walk alongside this group of people, to nudge them, applaud them, maybe even push them hard when they need it.

This makes me think of how it is with God, when we first realise who He is, that He truly wants to walk with us through life, that we are His champions, and He is fully invested in us. That God, the God of all gods, seeks to be involved with every minute detail of our lives.

So it is with writing a book. The journey can be long, difficult, marked by less-than-ideal roads. Just getting to the end of the writing phase can be arduous and sometimes, depending on the content of the book, the writing can unveil things in us that we might prefer to keep hidden – usually from ourselves.

But God never lets us stay in that place. He doesn’t want us to stay damaged, in pain, and hurt.

We are far too valuable to Him for that.

We are His children, His heirs, His glory rests on us. Therefore, why would we stay in the place of being incomplete?

Write your story’s precious ones. Don’t let the pain of the road stop you. Keep going.

Someone needs to hear your tale of overcoming, for in that, you will give them keys so they too can rise up from their pain and walk forward into our Papa God’s heart, healed, with great joy.
